Donna grew up in Chicago and later moved to Southern California. Her parents always encouraged her to stay active and she enthusiastically took their advice and participated in a wide variety of activities including softball, volleyball, gymnastics, and running. Running was one of her passions and, after a diligent training program, Donna went on to complete the Chicago marathon. That determination to achieve her goal, was one of her first steps in becoming a Personal Trainer.
Donna has always been enthusiastic about exercise and nutrition and she began to make it part her professional life by becoming a certified yoga instructor. She also continued her running and went on to complete numerous other races including two more marathons and two half marathons.
As a runner she began to feel like her knees were getting weaker. Fortunately, she discovered slow-motion strength training and has seen significant results. “I just love this workout. When I implemented it, my knees have improved so much that I have been able to run long distances again without pain.”
Donna quickly learned more about all the benefits of slow-motion strength training and changed her workouts to two weekly training sessions. With her highly active background and personal success with the method, Donna felt like helping others make the same switch felt like an exciting career move. She later found out about The Perfect Workout through a friend who worked for the company and knew she would be a great fit.
In 2013, Donna joined The Perfect Workout team and began training clients in the Rancho Bernardo studio. She is thrilled to have found a workout and career that brings so much positivity to other people’s lives. “I really enjoy being a part of my clients’ fitness journey especially when they achieve their goals.”
When one of Donna’s clients, Deborah Haight first joined The Perfect Workout, her goal was to lose 90 pounds. After working with Donna and the Rancho Bernardo team, one year later she achieved her goal of losing 90 pounds and feels and looks absolutely amazing!! “I love being a part of her transformation and in the process I made a life-long friend. Many of my clients have become friends — I love all of them.”
With successes like Deborah’s, it was inevitable that Donna’s career would advance and she became the Facility Manager of Rancho Bernardo in 2015. “ I always hoped to manage the studio. I worked hard and learned everything from my previous managers.” To this day, Donna is leading the team and loving every minute of it.
“I love leading and guiding the other trainers! The trainers here are my family and I want to make sure they are successful both here in the studio and outside of the studio. I want to create future managers. I enjoy watching them learn and grow.” She prides herself on creating a wonderful and energetic environment in the studio where she and her team can work well together and provide their clients the best possible experience.” I will always be there for my team and my clients!”
Now that her knees are stronger than ever, Donna is running towards new goals. “My goal is to run the Rock’n Roll marathon in San Diego.” She loves to keep up with her running, as well as biking, hiking with her kids, and taking vacations to beautiful destinations!
